"Another's action to you is ever a mirror of your opinion of yourself. Now, that is hard to understand because some of you here think... 'I loved him or her so much, and they walked away from me! I was so hurt. I would never choose that for myself.' Beloveds, I tell you a grand truth: You did [choose it.] Because it was not acceptable to you to be loved thusly, you could not allow it to be.
When you are loved by someone whose love you cannot seem to return, look you well inside yourself and find out why. Is it the person that you cannot accept or love? Or is their unlovable aspect a reflection of a part of you that you feel is unlovable? Every person that you find difficult to love mirrors to you something about you that you do not find acceptable. It might be something that you perceive to be totally foreign to your character at this time, or whatever. But, that aspect is there. You are aware of it, and you find it unacceptable. It would be well for you to ferret it out and be rid of it, for it is an illusion.
There is no part of you that is not of God and is not lovable. So, find out what it is about that person that reminds you of some hidden [aspect] inside of you. Then, forgive yourself, and let it go. Release it and be rid of it. This does not mean you must take this other person to your bosom. It simply means:
1) you recognize in them that aspect of you; 2) you deal with it; 3) you send the other
person love; 4) you release them; 5) you let them go.
You release them and let them go, just as you would release and let go those aspects of you that you found unlovable. As you continually do this, you will find unconditional love for yourself becomes easier and easier. For, in that unconditional love, you will find the foundation upon which all-encompassing love must necessarily come."
