"For your homework, this time I would have you release one person in your acquaintanceship in love, allowing them to be whatever they are and loving them anyway. Not binding them by owing or being owed to. Cherishing, nurturing by loving. Loving them just as they are. And next time I shall see how many of you do this. For those of you who are concerned, I do not visit you in your bath. Or on other private occasions. I allow you that. (Laughter) However, I do visit you... each and every one of you. Not only you but those who are yet to come, for there will be more. You have your homework! It is well...
(The following week.) I have come among you this week, for it is necessary for me to see your progress... or not, as it be... Some of you did very good with your 'homework.' Others of you did not bother. Tis well. Progress as you will, or not.
For those of you who did your assignment, you saw results almost immediately. Some of you immediately, some of you a few days, but all of you saw some changes. Now, for those of you who did not bother, how sad for you, for you have dug yourselves a little deeper and it would take you a little longer to climb out. But, words are ladders... I cannot put your feet upon the rungs. I have not come to take you by the hand and lead you. I have come to give you tools for you to use. For if I were to come among you and do it for you, you would know nothing more after I had gone. You would be the same. I come to give you work to do.That's why I like that word 'homework.' Tis a delightful word."
