Self-Awareness, Dedication and Discernment

"Look closely at what I have taught you thus far. In becoming aware of yourselves as spiritual beings, you become aware of life in a slightly different manner. When you are aware of your spiritual selves, you touch into the truth of your being. You become aware that there is a truth of your being that should be ardently sought after and brought out into a livingness in your experiences.

Having done that, then you become dedicated to the nurturing of that spirituality, dedicated to the growth of your being. You learn to use this discernment to further that growth and to not allow yourself to be victimized by others. You learn through discernment that you, as an individual, have value, and that the value does not lie in what you do for others but in your ability to allow the God of you to manifest through you.

These steps will take you - have taken you, are taking you - through many experiences that will either detract from or enhance each step of your spiritual journey. Even when you go through times when the experiences appear to detract from your journey, you will come full circle, and you will continue onward. No detraction is ever permanent, and no detraction is ever able to forever keep you from going ahead on your journey.

In your dedication to the path, again and again, you will meet the forces of your dark side. These dark forces will try to dissuade you, tell you 'It is not worth your bother... There is no real purpose behind going onward and you can rest on your 'laurels' as it were... stay where you are... you have learned a lot... and why bother going onward.'

On the path of spiritual growth, that dark side is the particle of experience that seems to be the most difficult to go past. I am sure that you all know and have met dedicated teachers who have stopped growing. You listened to them and said, 'Ah, indeed, they know thus and such and I shall learn. You go and you learn it. You go back and listen to them again, and you find that what they have said to you is old coat... old hat...old something anyway. What they have taught you is good but now you find you are more aware and wiser than they. You see what they have taught you is good but now you find you are more aware and wiser than they. You seek to learn more from them but you cannot because they have stopped. They are satisfied with where they are, and they do not feel it is necessary for them to continue on. Let them be. Pray for them, and leave them be. Find another who will mirror to you the truth of your being in the next step upward.

Your discernment is very, very important in your spiritual growth. It will keep you from being locked into old ideas or locked into new thoughts of another that appear to be new but yet are of little value to you."
