Developing Trust

“A very long time ago, several lifetimes back, every bit of trust that you ever had was taken from you and you were left with nothing. And from that point on, you promised yourself that you would never trust anyone or anything again, and you have kept your word. But the time of that is over. ...That was then and this is now and what you have in your heart is a great grieving to love. You are loved and you don’t have a problem with being loved; you have a problem with loving.

You have a problem with reaching out and letting another person in and allowing them there with love. You are ever waiting for that person to do something to prove that you are right and that you cannot trust anyone, and if they don’t do something, you try to make them do something to prove you right.

In your heart, beloved woman, is the source of love and the source of trust, and as you allow yourself to open to that love and to that trust, you will find that you don’t have to find it difficult because your very nature is one of love and trust. That’s how God created you.

...Start with little things that are easy and most of all, most of all, I beseech you… learn to trust yourself. You don’t trust yourself at all. You are so certain that you will instinctively make the wrong decision. ...The truth of your being is that you cannot make a mistake if you tried. You cannot. You think you can, you believe you can, you make believe you can. Do you know who your parent is? Your parent is all love, all truth, all beingness, all life, all beauty, all joy. That’s where you came from. That’s who you are.

The little person who says, ‘I can’t trust.’ That’s the personality, the ego-self of you. Say to it, ‘Get thee behind me. I have no use for you now. I am the child of God and I shall live from that.’ And practice with llittle things, little things. Then little things become bigger and bigger till after a while, you’re a joyous being living in the fullness of yourself. Everyone around you is trustworthy, everyone. Believe it, even if it is for one moment per person each day. Begin, begin.”
