One of these secret societies was known as the Great White Brotherhood… Mary’s people were of that group of the Essenes and the children from that time were trained right from infancy to be receptive for they all believed and looked forward to the coming of the Christ… So Mary was taken to the temple at a very tender age. She and other young women, young children, little girls… and they were taught the graces of the spirit.
On a given day, as they wended their way to the altar, it was Mary’s turn to go first. And as she made her way up the stone steps with the others following behind, the Angel of the Lord appeared to her and to the others and he cast his hand out and he laid it upon her head and he said, ‘Blessed art thou, Mary, for thou has been chosen to be the vessel of the Lord God.’ And then he withdrew.
And Mary was the tender age of twelve at the time this took place… Mary did not conceive at this time. Four years passed during which time Mary followed closely those teachings of the Brotherhood. And having been chosen in the present company of others, they too helped her to prepare through instruction and through purification.
In those days, a woman who brought forth a child and had not a husband was stoned to death. So Mary was given in marriage to a very gentle and tender man many years her senior, and he knew of her mission.
Now… there were four years during which she learned… She was a beautiful and pure soul and in her was no guile. And in her state of meditation, she was a pure light, and the Angel of the Lord came to her and said, ‘Hail Mary, blessed art thou among those of your kind.’ And he touched her and he said to her, ‘ I bring you great tidings for your hour is come.’
Now, Mary was prepared. She knew what her mission would be… When she said to the Angel, ‘How shall this be?’ she was inquiring whether or not she needed to have intercourse with a man for if so, she would have contacted Joseph. But it was made known to her that this was not necessary.
In actuality, Mary had a womb and into that womb there manifested the thought of the Holy Spirit… she conceived of this physical being. He took the name of Jesus. She could do this and do you know why she was the only one who could do this for him? Because she was his other half. She was the other half of his spirit. They were of one spirit. And so what she was, in effect, doing was drawing to herself the other half of herself and, in this manner of speaking, could bring forth.
…It was kept secret. And Mary was taken to the mountains where she was kept safe until it was such time that she should bring forth this wonderous child.”
