Physical Death

Questioner: How do we experience physical death?

Gabriel: Your death? You simply step out of your physical body like you would step out of a garment. It doesn’t hurt any more than taking off a coat. You shouldn’t be afraid. There is nothing to fear.

Questioner: Does only a part of me understand what is happening in death?

Gabriel: All parts of you understand. Your physical body is the only thing that doesn’t understand, but your mental body, you astral body, your spirit, your soul are all aware of the death process. Now the ego stays around in the soul because you use the same soul over and over. You don’t get a new soul every time you come to earth. What would we do with all of those old souls? So that is why all of your memory is in the soul. All of your lifetimes are in the soul. The ego hangs out with them.

Questioner: When I make my transition, can I go back to where I want to go and stay there as long as I want?

Gabriel: You can go anywhere you feel. Absolutely. Once you are rid of your body, you just travel by your thought. In other words, you think you want to be somewhere, and you are there instantly. Nobody says when your time is up. You can stay as long as you like. You don’t get a reservation either! You just go there.

Questioner: You said that reincarnation is a fact. With every lifetime, do we evolve a little more each time?

Gabriel: Oh yes, you do. You never go backward. You always go up. Everyone does. Even if it is just a teensy bit, you always spiral upward. Life evolves. It doesn’t go down. It goes upward, always.

Questioner: In the evolution of lives, when one decides to end these earthly lessons, is that predetermined as well?

Gabriel: It is predetermined by the individual. You might look your lives over and say, ‘Well, I have this karma to this person and that karma to that person. This person owes me, and I owe him and so forth Why don’t we do this all-in-one lifetime?’ You get together with him, and he says, ‘Well all right, I will do this and you do that,’ and so on and you get your karma all over with.

However, there is another way of dealing with karma and that is to recognize – and this takes a lot of letting go, releasing, and allowing – that you have never done anything you shouldn’t and neither has anyone else. There is nothing to be forgiven for. I know everyone in this room is thinking, ‘What? That isn’t true. I know this and this and that is terrible and that happened,’ and so forth and you could all name me 10,000 things where you would say, ‘Well, that is wrong.’

But when you get into the spirit of you, you recognize that everything below your spirit is a result of your thinking and your creativity. You have participated in creating circumstances, even if it isn’t a physical participation.

For example, on your earth plane now you have an area of your earth where there is a war, do you not? There are battles going on. Not too many people are thinking kindly of the enemy. A lot of them are saying, ‘Go over there and bomb them out of existence.’ Now what kind of thing do you think that kind of thinking draws to you?

Life is supportive. It is nurturing. It is ongoing. It is ever becoming. When you think thoughts that are destructive, you are going contrary to the flow of life, and you are trying to turn everything upside down. That is what war is. War is the result of people thinking upside down.

So any negative condition is upside-down thinking and to make it right, you simply forgive. Now when you forgive, does that mean that you agree with what the person is doing or saying? Not at all. It simply means that you recognize that the person is acting out of fear and not out of love and you are going to love him past that.

There is a little verse that Beloved Woman is fond of and it goes something like this:

He drew a circle of anger, a thing to flout.

He drew that circle to keep us out.

But love and I had a will to win

And we drew a circle that took him in.

It is that same philosophy, to go beyond appearance, beyond what looks like has happened and into the truth, which is that life is good. It is loving and it is filled with all of the blessings that you could possibly hold.”
