Expectations

"Expectations are the ego's idea of what love should be. ...Love simply allows the other person to be who he or she is and to allow the relationship to grow and to become what it is supposed to be, and every moment of that becoming is precious. But when you think, 'Well, this is going to be this way,' and then it goes another way instead, your expectations are not met and you perceive that love has pulled away from you. But true love lasts forever and ever, for thousands and thousands of years. A true love will remain. ...When you are together, be it for a day or a lifetime, it doesn't matter, that love comes to the surface and gives its joy and you take that joy and let it flow. You just let love be and it will give its gifts always."
