Criteria of the Ego

"Now the ego, the whole criteria of the ego is to prevent you from knowing God. That is the only purpose that your ego thinks about or dwells upon or works toward... is to keep you out of touch with your holiness, out of touch with your own divinity because once you have touched into that divinity on a conscious level and it becomes your reality, the ego knows its life is over... Now don't forget, the greatest weapon of the ego is fear. That is its sword. That is its shield. That is its whole intent... is to keep you frightened or out of balance, not confident, not trustful, not able to really, truly believe you are the son of God. So the ego uses fear in any way it can."
