"Gabriel: Are you enthusiastic?
Participant: I'm trying.
Gabriel: Oh, no, no. If you are trying, then you're not. Enthusiasm, you either are or you're not. You don't try to be enthusiastic. Never, oh dear, never try anything. The word try... You said the word “trying.” The word “trying,” what does that connote in your mind? Failure, disappointment, struggle, all the negative things.
He back there, he doesn't say, 'I'm going to try to get horses. I'm going to try to build upon a barn. I'm going to try to...' he just does it. He went and got horses and he had a barn built in his absence. He trusted when he got back the barn would be done and it was. And he came back with his horses from way out in no man's land. … But he did not expect that he would fail. Now, what did you know about horses when you went to get them?
Participant: Very little. (Laughter)
Gabriel: Very little, but did that stop you?
Participant: No, I just felt it was time to get horses, so I got them.
Gabriel: The point I'm getting at is you have to be daring. He is very daring, very daring - he frequently goes where even we won't go - but in the daringness, there has to be a trust and a confidence in your own well-being. You have got to know that God is not going to let you fall on your face.
You know how little babies will fling themselves off the top stair knowing daddy or mommy is going to catch them? Well, it's the same principle. The child has absolute trust that that parent is going to throw open their arms and catch them. And you have to have the confidence to know that God is going to catch you, too.
When you go with enthusiasm, with the joy of your own spirit in something, you have got to succeed because you're bringing in every kind of a support that you could possibly require - you have enthusiasm, you have trust, you have all of the... you have divine inspiration. You have everything you need to bring forth that which you desire.
Trusting in yourself is one of the things that people have the greatest problem with. That's why they go to counselors, that's why they go to advisory boards, and that's why they seek out the opinion of friends and neighbors, is because they don't have confidence in their own ability.
How many of you, when you get a good idea, run to a friend and say, ‘Guess what? I've had a great idea. Let me tell you all about it. Now tell me what you think.’ You depend upon your friend's judgment as to whether or not it's a good or bad idea.
... How many times have you thrown away wonderful opportunities in your life because someone else advised you against it? Just think for a moment where all of you could be if you had listened to your own intuition and followed with your own enthusiasm. How different would your lives be? You could have done a lot of things.
The bottom line of today's lesson is: Do it! Just do it! And everything that you need, the Universe will give you. Everything, with no exception. Yes, even you."
